Who is this course for?

This diploma is designed for students who want to develop their therapeutic knowledge and skills. To apply, you must meet the following entry requirements:

* Successful completion of a nationally recognised Level 3 counselling course.
* Satisfactory references.
* A successful personal interview (held in June and July).

What You Will Learn

We teach an integrated approach to counselling that perfectly complements the '5 Circle Theory'. While pre-knowledge of this theory is highly recommended, it is not essential for those willing to undertake extra prior learning.

Course Highlights:

Personal Growth: A strong focus on personal awareness and development.
Practical Experience: Extensive opportunities to practice counselling skills in class and in triads, giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Assessment: Instead of traditional "set" homework, students build a portfolio of evidence to meet Course Learning Criteria, guided by tutors during monthly reviews.
Research: Students will research current growth areas in counselling and deliver a minimum of two short presentations.

Clinical Placement & Supervision

To obtain your final Diploma, you must complete 100 hours of supervised counselling with clients.

Location: Placements can be completed at Manna House or an organised alternative.
Supervision: Students are responsible for funding their own clinical supervision.
Timeline: You have up to 12 months after academic studies end in Year 2 to complete your 100 hours.

Qualifications & Requirements

Upon successful completion, you will earn a nationally recognised Diploma, qualifying you to counsel adults in various settings and providing a pathway to higher-degree-level study.

Student Expectations:

Attendance: A minimum of 85% attendance is required to pass (maximum of 63 hours missed over two years).
Professional Registration: Students must register with the ACC, BACP, or a similar governing body by the start of the course. The programme is underpinned by the ACC Code and Practice of Ethics.
Progression: Year 1 must be successfully completed to progress to Year 2.
